Singer-songwriter Eros Ramazzotti, a popular figure in the Latin-music world, has rescheduled his U.S. concert tour, which he was forced to postpone following surgery on his vocal cords.

The U.S. leg of the tour will now begin in 2020. The dates first appeared on Ticketmaster on Friday, June 28.

"I must stop and rehabilitate for two months," the Italian singer said in an Instagram post on Tuesday, May 7. "I'm sorry for my fans all over ... America. I will make up all next year."

Ramazzotti launched the tour in February in Europe. The run of shows in the Americas was scheduled to kick off with a concert in Guadalajara on May 14. The U.S. portion of the tour included stops at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles (May 21) and Radio City Music Hall in New York (June 18). In Mexico City, he was slated to perform at the prestigious Auditorio Nacional (May 16).

The European leg of the tour will resume on July 11 in Locarno, Switzerland.

New U.S. concert dates

The new U.S. dates kick off in Atlantic City, N.J., on Feb. 22, 2020. Venues include Madison Square Garden in New York City (Feb. 25); American Airlines Arena in Miami (March 1); and the Forum in Los Angeles (March 13). He will also play Boston (Feb. 27) and Chicago (March 4).

Throughout most of his career, Ramazzotti has released music in both Spanish and Italian, becoming hugely successful with both audiences. "La Cosa Más Bella" reached No. 2 on the U.S. Latin chart, with "Fuego en el Fuego" and "Una Emoción Para Siempre" among his other major American hits.

However, he has never penetrated the English-speaking market in the States, despite successful duets with Tina Turner ("Cosas de la Vida"), Cher ("Più Che Puoi") and Joe Cocker ("That's All I Need to Know").

Ramazzotti is touring in support of the disc "Hay Vida" / "Vita ce n'è." The album's singles include the title track; "Por Las Calles Las Canciones," a duet with Luis Fonsi; and "Somos" / "Siamo."

Ramazzotti's last U.S. shows were in 2016, when he was touring to promote the album "Perfecto" / "Perfetto."
